The year is 169 of the 5th age. Since the discovery of magic at the end of the prior age, Humans have dominated a majority of the known world. Today, although divided, the nations stand strong under the banner of Saradomin, God of Order.

Ashan Aladelis, an apprentice at the Wizard's Tower, the most prominent hub of magic in the known world, prepares to leave on a journey after spending the past year becoming acquainted with the art.

*Seeing him off, Wizard Isidor hands him a rune pouch, containing the mystical stones vital to all magic.*

: "Good luck. Don't waste them."​

*Wizard Isidor reaches into his own rune pouch, pulling out 3 air, 1 earth and 1 law runes.*

: "Any questions? Or are you ready to teleport?"

: "Although part of Misthalin, Lumbridge is governed by its own Duke. I'm sure his castle would be open to one of the Tower's pupils."

: "What routes are safest for travel, and where would be a good location to consolidate resources?"

 

[Nic]

: "Lumbridge. Which is why we're sending you there."

 

[Blitzen]

: "By the blinding light of Saradomin.. of course."

: "Righto then. Watch out for imps." *The runes glow and twirl around in his hand, taking a purplish color. He then raises his hands up, causing a swirling spiral to form around Ashan after a flash of magical energy, sucking him upwards.*

*In Lumbridge, an identical spiral forms just before Ashan is gently dropped out of it, landing on his feet.*

 

[Blitzen]

: "Righto then. Watch out for imps." *The runes glow and twirl around in his hand, taking a purplish color. He then raises his hands up, causing a swirling spiral to form around Ashan after a flash of magical energy, sucking him upwards.*

*In Lumbridge, an identical spiral forms just before Ashan is gently dropped out of it, landing on his feet.*

*Ashan, finally free after a year in the tower, takes a moment to observe his surroundings and appreciate them.*

*He finds himself in front of closed portcullis attached to the front entrance of Lumbridge Castle. Unlike Wizard's Tower which is made of glistening white bricks, the castle and walls seem to be made of simple grey stone. Blue banners with a white arrow are also hung from the walls and flown as flags. Strangely, he doesn't see the purple flag of Misthalin flying, like he would have expected.

Around, he observes a worn cobblestone path heading slightly south towards some shops and a large church, bearing the 4 pointed star of Saradomin. To the North, he sees more almost identically designed buildings, as well as the bridge across the River Lum which the town is named after.*

*He reaches the large stone church and finds its wooden doors are closed. He also notices a fenced off graveyard to its right, where he'd imagine a majority of the people of Lumbridge are buried when they die.*
